When mounted in the camera, the computer doesn't see a drive, they see (logically enough) a camera. Card reader doesn't work, USB directly in the computer no mounting going on (nor is the CF card visible in Disk Utility). There is no need to upgrade to Disk Drill PRO until you are sure the files you need are recoverable.

I've been using these same SanDisk Extreme III cards with a firewire card reader on my dearly departed 2008 MacBook Pro for ages.
